Grab your 3D glasses and head into Gru’s laboratory where you’ll start minion training. But of course things don’t go exactly as planned, making this one fun and silly ride with the Despicable Me humor, based on the movie of the same name. Your cart won’t move from room to room, but it does wobble and shake, making it feel as if you’re traveling through Gru’s laboratory.
Parent Worry Note: This is a rather simple 3D ride with no major issues to worry about. Still, because carts do wobble and tremble, and because it’s 3D, those prone to motion sickness might get ill. This is one ride in which families might get split, and end up in different carts.
Final Note: This ride has the absolute worst line wait-time at Universal Studios. It is cute enough, and younger kids in particular will like the attraction and the humor. But if you miss this ride, don’t be too upset. As a 3D movie/ride, it was fun, but it definitely wasn’t Universal’s best. If the line is short, if you have an Express Pass, or are a huge Despicable Me fan, give it a try. If the line is long and you don’t have an express pass, then skip this ride because in our opinion it’s just not worth the long wait.
